Pendant or necklace — what you're actually choosing

A pendant here is the charm on its own, without a chain. Our necklaces collection sells chain and pendant together as one fixed piece. The distinction matters if you already own a chain you like, if you are building a layered look with several small pendants at different heights, or if you simply want the charm without paying for a chain you don't need.

Every pendant here comes with a standard bail — the small loop the chain threads through — sized to fit most fine and medium chains. If you are pairing one with a chain from elsewhere, check the bail width against your chain's link size before ordering, since a very heavy curb chain will not always thread through a bail sized for a fine box chain.

What's actually in this collection

Three distinct groups sit under "pendants", and they are chosen for different reasons:

• Zodiac and star sign pendants — solid 14K gold, one per sign. Bought as a birthday gift far more often than for the wearer's own reasons, and one of the few genuinely personalised categories we carry without needing a bespoke order.
• Symbolic and animal charms — clover, turtle, butterfly, eye of Horus, seahorse, dragonfly and more, most set with a small zircon accent. Each carries its own meaning — the clover for luck, the turtle for longevity, the eye of Horus for protection — and they are chosen deliberately rather than as generic jewellery.
• Sentimental and family pendants — the Tree of Life, a heart pendant for a mother, an initial plaque. These are gift-first purchases, usually bought for a specific person and occasion rather than browsed casually.

9ct or 14K for a pendant

Most of this collection is 14K gold, and a handful of designs — the Tree of Life and our mother's heart pendant among them — are available in 9ct as well. The choice is the same trade-off as everywhere else on this site: 9ct is harder, more scratch-resistant and the more affordable option; 14K carries more pure gold and a richer, warmer colour. Since a pendant hangs still rather than taking the daily knocks a ring or bracelet absorbs, the durability case for 9ct is weaker here — most people choose on colour and budget rather than wear resistance.

Layering more than one pendant

Wearing two or three pendants on separate chains of slightly different lengths — typically 2 inches apart — is the most common way customers combine pieces from this collection: a zodiac sign with an initial, or a symbolic charm with a sentimental one. Keep the pendants themselves to a similar scale so no single piece dominates, and vary the chain length rather than the chain style for the cleanest look.

Common questions

Does a pendant come with a chain?

No. These are sold as the pendant alone. If you want chain and pendant together as one piece, see our necklaces collection instead.

Will any chain fit the bail?

Most fine to medium chains will, but a heavy curb or figaro chain may be too thick for a delicate bail. Check the bail width listed against your chain's link size, or ask us before ordering if you are unsure.

Are the coloured stones real?

Where a natural gemstone is named, it is real. Most of the symbolic and animal charms use cubic zirconia, clearly stated on the listing — it gives the same clarity and sparkle as a diamond at a fraction of the cost.

Can I get a pendant made for a symbol or sign not shown here?

Yes. Everything is made in our own workshop, so a specific symbol, initial or design can be commissioned even if it isn't in the current range. Start a conversation — the first one costs nothing.
