A setting with no additional stones, no cluster, no halo, has nothing decade-specific about it to date. A solitaire ring, stud or pendant bought today looks essentially the same as one bought twenty years ago, because there is no fashion detail beyond the stone and the plain mount holding it. Claw or bezel — the one real choice in a solitaire

Once you have chosen solitaire, the remaining decision is how the stone is held. Claw settings (four or six prongs) expose more of the stone to light and give the most sparkle. Bezel settings surround the stone in a rim of metal, protecting the edge completely — the more practical choice for an earring or ring that takes daily knocks, at a small cost to how much light reaches the stone from the side.

Is solitaire the same across rings, earrings and necklaces?

The principle is identical — one stone, no additional diamonds — but the setting details differ. Rings and earrings offer both claw and bezel options; necklace pendants are more commonly bezel or simple claw drops.

Can I get a matching solitaire set?

Often, yes, since the same stone sizes and gold carats run across our ring, earring and necklace ranges. If you want an exact matching set, commission it — the first conversation costs nothing.

Is a solitaire the cheapest option?

Not necessarily — with nowhere for a smaller stone to hide, the centre stone carries the whole price. A halo or cluster can buy more apparent size for the same budget; a solitaire spends the whole budget on one honest stone.
